Steadfast: We have been playing it wrong

At least, I have been playing it wrong. I have been playing it like the old Stubborn rule. I.e. You may test on the UNIT'S unmodified leadership. This is not the Steadfast rule.

The Steadfast (and by extension the NEW Stubborn rule) says, "Steadfast units can always take Break tests on their unmodified Leadership (or the General's unmodified Leadership if the testing unit is in range of his Inspiring Presence special rule - see page 107). "

And just for completeness, the new Stubborn rule reads, "Stubborn units are always steadfast, whether or not they have more ranks than their enemy (see page 54 for details)."

Therefore a unit with Ld 6 which is steadfast and in range of its Ld 10 general would roll on an unmodified 10 when they lose the combat.

Ruling on Irresistable Force

I need a ruling on irresistable force before I play as the Lizardmen again.

I have come to the realization that the question is only relevant for maybe two armies. There are no generic spells that cost more than 12 base, so if you roll irresistable force (2x6=12) you have met the casting value of the spell. So the argument is almost pointless. However, there is at least one army with a spell that require at least a 15 to cast. There may be some with a 13+ requirment, but that is irrelevant as well because you would have to roll 3 dice, meaning you would meet the value if you rolled IF ((2x6)+1=13).

However, it will affect the way I play the Lizardmen because of Lord Kroak, so I need a ruling.

Rules Comments

We often end games having had several rules questions come up, some resolved, some unresolved. I will post the ones that I remember to here, and people can catch up or comment, or post their own answers, thoughts, or questions so they can be researched and read up on. =D
Starting with:

We have had it come up several times as to whether the "Outnumber"-ing part of the Combat Result is calculated based on original unit strength, as the rank bonus, or on end of round unit strength. In the example they give on page 37 of the miniature Rulebook, it appears the numbers are actually compared based on remaining troops, not on beginning of round troops, as we had previously been playing. Whoops.... 0.O
